Bertie Lou Brown Smith was born on August 17, 1929, in Oklahoma. Her parents were Hobert and Gladys Dilliner Brown. She married Ora Smith on September 8, 1948, in Benton, Arkansas. They had one child during their marriage, Sidney Monroe. She died on July 31, 2015, in Miami, Oklahoma, at the age of 85, and was buried in Ottawa, Oklahoma at the Brown family cemetery.
