Gary Eugene "Rufus" Spicer Birth: Feb. 28, 1960 Death: May 13, 1997 Gary Eugene "Rufus" Spicer, 37, 832 Florida Ave., died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a shooting earlier in the day. Mr. Spicer was born Feb. 28, 1960, in Waukegan, Ill. He moved to Joplin seven years ago from Miami, Okla. He was a production worker at Able Body Inc., Arrow Box Inc. and Pillsbury, all of Joplin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by two sons, Dylan Spicer, Joplin, and Richard Campbell, the state of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Shawndra Martin, Joplin; his father, Harmon Spicer, Miami; his mother, Jewell Spicer, Miami; a brother, Michael Wright, Taft, Okla.; and four sisters, Patti Henson, Tawny Spicer and Candy Spicer, all of Miami, and Cheryl Bertling, Joplin.
