      Gary Eugene "Rufus" Spicer, 37, 832 Florida Ave., died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a shooting earlier in the day. Mr. Spicer was born Feb. 28, 1960, in Waukegan, Ill.
      He moved to Joplin seven years ago from Miami, Okla. He was a production worker at Able Body Inc., Arrow Box Inc. and Pillsbury, all of Joplin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
      He is survived by two sons, Dylan Spicer, Joplin, and Richard Campbell, the state of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Shawndra Martin, Joplin; his father, Harmon Spicer, Miami; his mother, Jewell Spicer, Miami; a brother, Michael Wright, Taft, Okla.; and four sisters, Patti Henson, Tawny Spicer and Candy Spicer, all of Miami, and Cheryl Bertling, Joplin. The body will be cremated. No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
