James Postoak James Postoak James Postoak On April 22, 2013, James C. Postoak made a sudden and unexpected exit from this world. James was born in Miami, Oklahoma on August 5, 1973 to Raymond and Phyllis (Dilliner) Postoak. James grew up in Jay, Oklahoma, with his 2 brothers, Douglas and Kirk Postoak. He graduated Jay High School in 1991, as an honor student. He was also the year book editor. James went on to study at Oklahoma City Universtity where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma. James eventually decided to pursue his passion for emergency medicine at Missouri Southern State University. He graduated in 1998 as a Paramedic. James initially went to work for Grove EMS and then AirEvac as a flight medic. He decided in 2003 to take his skills into the city, and his career took him to EMSA Tulsa, where he spent 9 years. During James� time at EMSA, he received the Star of Life for his expertise and heroic actions, always going above and beyond duty. James� zest for life and infectious happiness opened way for many strong friendships to develop through the years. Soon after starting with EMSA, James considered several of his co-workers family. James was promoted to Field Operations Supervisor in 2010. James was considered one of the best teachers and preceptors with EMSA. He was regarded by students as knowledgeable, approachable, confident and inspiring. He spoke very highly of his partners and had a long request of medics to work with him. Throughout the years, his wish to be a career flight medic grew stronger and in late 2012, he applied with Mediflight, Oklahoma. James was hired through Air Methods and attended flight academy in Denver, Colorado in February. At the time of his death, he had just completed his internship with Tulsa Life Flight and he had been cleared to fly as a primary crew member. James was stationed at Mediflight 3 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He beamed with pride while wearing his flight suit, and he often shared pictures and jokes with us concerning his new position. James was known state wide within the uniformed community for his humor and sarcasm. His ability to lighten any situation and to bring humor to the darkest days inspired the community of emergency workers. We could always count on a one-liner from Postoak to ease the situation. It seemed as though James personally branded all of his favorite things. Anyone familiar with James can list his favorite jeans, singers, sunglasses, cocktail drink, TV show and weekend get-away. James trademarked sayings like �the remix, hellur, blue drank, cold pop and weave�. James was preceded in death by his father Raymond Postoak, grandparents Ike and Lou Ella Postoak and Riley and Gladys Diliner , and coworkers Lisa Ables and Mary Frederick. James leaves behind a host of family and friends to mourn his loss, including his mother Phyllis Diliner Postoak of Jay, Oklahoma and his brothers Kirk Postoak and Douglas Postoak of Jay, Oklahoma . James was very proud of his new nephew, Hayes Brant and planned to introduce him to Louis Vuitton and Madonna very early. He is also survived by his special cousin Jamie Woods aunts and uncles, Sam & Janice Quick of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Julie Diliner, Marvin Frost, Jerry Diliner, & Lois Johnson also of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Joyce & Duane Passeau of Peculiar, Missouri, Edison Postoak of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nadine Postoak of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Ataloa Postoak, Lushanya & Jodie Henson of Kansas, Oklahoma, and George Postoak of Leach, Oklahoma and Lillie Postoak of Oaks, Oklahoma, as well as cousins and other family. James leaves many friends that he considered family, and he especially cherished the friendships of Kelby Nichols, Michael Garrison, Sheri Dent, Jamie Johnson, Emily O�Banion, and Derrick Baird. James pride and joy was his Chihuahua Sean Preston. SP was not a pet but rather his furr child whom he lavished with Prada leashes and gourmet food. Sean Preston�s care and well-being was left spelled out in James� will. As the community grieves the loss of one of the greatest medics, sons, brothers and friends of all times, we remember the words of James himself: �My goal is not to live forever, but to create something that will.� Rest easy, James, knowing that your legacy will live on forever. Fly high, Brother, fly high. Funeral services for James will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Grove Civic Center in Grove, Oklahoma. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
