James Junior Castagno, Jr., age 93, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch in Joplin. James was born on June 7, 1931, in Columbus, KS, to the late union of James A. Sr. and Caterina (Berta) Castagno. He was a graduate of Joplin High School. He then went on to attend and graduate from Joplin Junior College with an associates degree in business administration. He joined the United States Army and served for a year before returning home to begin working with his dad at Miller High Life for many years In 1956, he became co-owner of Castagno Appliance in Joplin, and retired in 1993. He married Kathleen (Snow) Anderson on February 9, 1967, in Joplin. Together they were blessed with 57 years of marriage before his passing. James was a part of the Joplin Bowling Team in the 1960’s. He played basketball for the Joplin Junior College while studying for his business degree. He later joined the Lionbackers at MSSU and attended many basketball games. In his later years, he loved yard work, especially his gardening. As well as, rooting for his favorite team from his recliner, the Kansas City Chiefs. James was preceded in death by his two daughters, Carolyn Jean Anderson and Alisha Kay McKenzie; and three brothers, John Castagno, Joe Castagno, and Nick Castagno. James is survived by his wife, Kathleen Castagno; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt.
