    Sept. 29, 2006 Kenneth Jackson Armstrong of Wyandotte died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at his home. He was 82. Armstrong was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Wyandotte to Thomas Jefferson and Teresa (McClellen) Armstrong. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving aboard the submarine Snapper. He later became a naval commando. He was the Atlantic Fleet welterweight champion. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. He received 14 medals including the Silver Star and Bronze Star. He worked as a diesel mechanic and a trucker for Yellow Transit, later named Yellow Freight. He also worked for Roadway Express for 15 years. He worked in the area of security for the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe. He married Margaret Smithey on Dec. 22, 1950, in Yanceyville, N.C. She survives. Additional survivors include six sons and their wives, Steven Iaquinto of Honeybrook, Pa., Kenneth Iaquinto of Pottstown, Pa., Dennis and Sharon Armstrong of Jay, and Billy and Susan Armstrong, Roger Armstrong and Larry Dale Armstrong, all of Wyandotte, and one daughter and her husband, Brenda and John Hilburn of Wyandotte. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kay Armstrong; one brother, Tommy Joe Armstrong, and two half-brothers, Merle Scovel and Ernest Scovel. Services were held at Council House Cemetery in Wyandotte. The American Legion Honor Team were officiated at the service. Pallbearers were Larry Dale Armstrong, Roger Armstrong, Dennis Armstrong Jr., Roger Armstrong Jr., John Hilburn, Shane Hilburn and Billy Armstrong.
